White Desert, Egypt

The White Desert Expedition

Hike the remote lunar landscape of one of the most incredible deserts in the world. Egypt's White Desert is an ancient seabed filled with chalk formations of the craziest kind, all shaped by the winds and sand storms over thousands of years.

White Desert, Egypt

About the trip

If you have ever dreamt of visiting another planet, this trip is your (more local) rocket call!

Egypt's White Desert lies far away from Cairo's bustling streets, halfway to the Libyan border, in the middle of the Big Emptiness. Think of a white planet with sculptural, alien-looking rock formations stretching far into the horizon: minarets, mushrooms, rabbits, castles, broccoli, you name it! We will hike in various parts of the region every morning for a week and spend our afternoons driving deeper into the desert, truly and deeply off the beaten path. The landscape in this area stretches further than the dunes and the chalk sculptures, so every day brings a different surprise of its own.

On this trip, we sleep in tents, enjoy campfires every evening, listen to local stories and get to know a truly unique region many people have never heard about.

THE BOOKINGS FOR THE WHITE DESERT EXPEDITION ARE NOW OPEN.
